2005 PAKULA FRIENDLY TOURNAMENT
Welcome to the 2005 Pakula Friendly Tournament (PFT) website.
Over the next few weeks and months, we hope to be able to keep you
updated on what is becoming widely accepted as one of the best game
fishing events on the East coast of Australia and all over the world.
The
2005 PFT is scheduled to take place, once again, in beautiful Port
Stephens. A preliminary program of events is detailed below:
Friday 18th February, 2005
Briefing / Tutorial
Saturday 19th February 2005 Fishing & Presentation Dinner
Sunday 20th February 2005
Fishing & (unofficial) BBQ
Of
course, as in previous years, many entrants will start to congregate in
Port Stephens during the week prior to the tournament. In past years,
there have been some great days (and nights) had in the time leading up
the weekend itself, so feel free to make a holiday of it and get in some
extra fishing early.
As
in previous years, one of the highlights of the PFT is the online
auction. The auction is due to commence early January, with items
available to view online sometime early December. Auction items are
coming in fast, and with sponsors on board like Henderson, C-Map,
Shimano, Precision Rods, Sovereign Resort Cooktown, Campbells Pro
Tackle, Team Australia, Fish Sunglasses, Diawa, Air-Sea-Land, Pioneer,
Dennis Jewellry and Harvey Norman Ballarat just to name a few, the
auction promises to be bigger and better than ever.
Anyone with auction items to donate please contact us as detailed below.
The
“Skywalker Trophy” will be again up for grabs for the first “marlin
virgin” to catch a marlin on the Saturday or Sunday. The Kathleen
Allatta Shield will also be presented on the Saturday night to the non
committee entrant who offers the most assistance towards the success of
the PFT. Both these awards, truly encapsulate the spirit of the PFT.
As
well as all this, there will be usual help and assistance to new
anglers, with a tutorial session scheduled for the Friday evening, where
new inexperienced anglers can get some hands on help. Tournament lure
packs at special prices will most likely be available, sched maps will
be provided and there will be accommodation packages available through a
local agent. Clothing will again be arranged for purchase, and the
Henderson Photo / Video comp will be held with some great prizes for the
best PFT photos / video.
Anglers without boats are free to enter, and we will attempt to ensure
that everyone gets a ride. There is even a rumor that there may be
land based contingent getting involved this year. Add this to the
overseas anglers and it all looks good.
PFT
2005 can only be the best yet, if everyone out there gets right behind
it and makes it the best. Keep checking back here for entry forms and
further updates, get your entries in early, and bring it on.
