Pete;

Christian has realised some skirt decoloration on his lures. Also some lures are getting with kind of skin out of the skirts. Mainly stripy´s .
Blue angel ´s are more stiff than they were and the oily lures aren´t any more.

Remember you had some similar feedback before PFT here at The Marlin Bar.

Might need some lure maintenance advises!!

Ok there are several points here:

The oily does come off over time. It comes off regardless of the brand of skirt.

The 'delamination' is a problem, but should be a rare one on Pakula lure skirts. This is where the skirt strands spetate and have a think clear slice that tangles. The easiest is just cut away the loose pieces. It's not a good thing and by all means get the skirts replaced, but that is difficult because of distance.

The other problems are bad handling. No lures should be left in the sun. No lures should be washed in detergent as detergent will disolve the plasticiser. (That's what makes the skirts soft). Lures should NEVER be left in fresh water as the clorine will fade the colours and disolve the plasticiser.

Lures should be dried in the shade.

The other problem is cheap lure bags or platic bags the lures are stored in. If the bag is made from the same material as the skirts (PVC) the plasticiser will migrate out of the skirt into the bafg. You can tell if this is happening as the bag plastic will wrinkle and be softer in some places.

It's a good idea to spay all skirts, heads hooks and leader with silicone spray as this will seal the platic and stop the plasticiser migration to a large extent.

Thank you Peter and Juan Carlos for the translation.

I had'nt posted again in this thread because I solved my problem:) , washing them with fresh water and shade drying them.

After that I spray some "PLEDGE" wax into them which leaves them in great conditions.

Thank you for your advise.

Chris, pledge isn't the answer. It's a wax meant for furnature. Please find some silicone spray, you'll find it will last longer and stop the skirts sticking to each other which is what the wax will do if heated.

Unless of course the Pledge we buy in Australia is different to yours.

Guys I made a mistake Pledge is OK it is oil based not wax. Sorry for that.

I'd still rather a silicone, but pledge should be fine. Use the oil, not the cleaner.

Hi,

When you reply, scroll down the page to manage attachments. Click on that. Then upload from your computer, (takes a little time) and the job is done. You cannot uplaoad super big files.

If you don't know how to make the file smaller then email me the photo and I'll do it for you.
